We actually have our eyes on a lovely pair of devils at the moment they arent realy my thing but im convinced these ones are special.They are adult,breeding and no humps. LOL watch those fingers for sure..... As far as buying devils....Make sure to look really closely at them. I have had many with different issues. Like little tumors or malformed fins.(side fins point down not straight out sides) They are inbreed alot ! also make sure they are devils ! could be midas....? Midas has a flatter face in profile. Hard to tell when young between them.(I like both & hybrids) ~~~Web info~~~ The Midas Cichlid is very similar to the Red Devil Amphilophus labiatus, and some sites still list them as the same fish. These two fish differ very little in the appearance however they are found in different places. While the Midas Cichlid can range from Costa Rica to Nicaragua, the Red Devil is only found in the Nicaraguan lakes. ] http://animal-world.com/encyclo/fresh/cichlid/MidasCichlid.phpI if this is a breeding pair your looking at ....the male should have some kind of hump on his head. I have seen different sizes of the humps but always have them. My females have humps also ...one of them grows larger than the males before she lays. Here is some info I found on the web;
Males may have nuchal humps (a hump on the forehead). The size and shape of the hump differs by species. In the wild only males appear to get humps, but in aquaria, females can get humps too, even fairly large ones. So the presence of a hump does not in itself identify a male.[url=http://cichlidresearch.com/sexingcichlids.html] http://cichlidresearch.com/sexingcichlids.html[/url | |
